Alan Scantland

Board Chairman & Senior Advisor, CoverMyMeds


Alan Scantland is board chair and senior advisor to CoverMyMeds. He has an outstanding history of leading high-growth companies including MemberHealth, Express-Med and Battelle.

Alan is a five-time Inc.500|5000 award recipient, including consecutive years with CoverMyMeds, and was awarded Inc.’s #1 overall company with MemberHealth in 2007.

He volunteers significant time to mentoring startup companies on strategy development, growth management and communications.



Matt Scantland

Co-Founder and CEO, CoverMyMeds


Matt Scantland is CEO and Co-Founder of CoverMyMeds, the nation’s largest electronic prior authorization platform.
As CEO, Matt is responsible for overall company leadership and growth. He brings a product and technology perspective to the management team, and helps drive the company’s innovation strategy. Matt also is a member of the Company’s Board of Directors.

Matt and Co-Founder Sam Rajan started CoverMyMeds to help patients get the medications they need to live healthier lives. Through its innovative products and partnerships with the nation’s largest health plans, pharmacies, providers, and clinical systems, CoverMyMeds helps millions of patients access their needed medications each month.

Prior to co-founding CoverMyMeds, Matt was Co-Founder and President of a software development company in Columbus that served large healthcare companies. Matt is active in Columbus’ business, civic, and technology communities, and is an enthusiastic supporter of the growing entrepreneurial ecosystem in Columbus.




Chris Adams

Partner, Francisco Partners

Chris Adams is a partner with Francisco Partners, a global private equity firm specializing in investments in technology companies. In his role, Chris focuses on health care technology, co-leading the firm’s health care technology investment efforts.

Prior to joining Francisco Partners, Chris evaluated and executed private equity transactions for American Securities Capital Partners. He also worked for a venture capital firm in Bangalore and a technology startup in Shanghai.

In addition to CoverMyMeds, Chris currently serves on the board of directors of GoodRx, Landmark Health, Quantros and TRC Healthcare



Jason Brein

Vice President, Francisco Partners


Jason Brein, is a principal at Francisco Partners, a global private equity firm specializing in investments in technology companies. In his role, Jason focuses on working with high-growth financial and education technology companies. Prior to joining Francisco Partners, he worked at Elevation Partners, a tech-focused investment firm in Silicon Valley, and at Goldman Sachs.

Jason serves on the board of directors of CoverMyMeds, Corsair and Paymetric.



Keith A. Katkin

President and CEO, Avanir Pharmaceuticals


Keith A. Katkin served as the president and CEO of Avanir Pharmaceuticals, Inc. from March 2007 until January 2016. Mr. Katkin joined Avanir in July of 2005 as the senior vice president of sales and marketing and a member of Avanir’s executive management team. Mr. Katkin was responsible for leading Avanir’s turnaround, transitioning Avanir from an R&D stage company to a fully-integrated commercial company, executing the plan that led to the approval of Nuedexta, and the recent acquisition of Avanir by Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. for $3.5 billion in January of 2015.

Prior to joining Avanir, Mr. Katkin served as the vice president, Commercial Development for Peninsula Pharmaceuticals, playing a key role in the concurrent initial public offering and ultimate sale of the company to Johnson and Johnson. Additionally, Mr. Katkin’s employment experience also includes leadership roles at Amgen, InterMune, and Abbott Laboratories.

Mr. Katkin is currently a member of the board of directors of Avanir Pharmaceuticals, Carbylan Therapeutics, the Brain Injury Association of America and is Chairman of the Board of Otic Pharma.



Richard Lunak

President and CEO, Innovation Works


Rich Lunak currently serves as the president and CEO of Innovation Works, one of the nation’s most active early-stage technology investors with a portfolio of more than 200 startups. Rich also serves as a founder and managing director of Riverfront Ventures.

As an entrepreneur, Rich helped lead a three-person, health care startup to a $65 million acquisition by McKesson Corporation.  While a group president at McKesson, Rich ran several technology business units and served on the company’s corporate operating team where he helped architect several disruptive growth strategies that led to market leadership in multiple market segments.

Richard holds several U.S. patents, is a winner of the 2012 Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award and the 2008 Carnegie Science Center Entrepreneur Award.  He also served on the board of directors for Aesynt and SoftWriters — two successful health care technology companies.




Ron Paulus

CEO, Mission Health


Dr. Paulus is president and CEO of Mission Health, the only health system ever designated as one of the nation’s Top 15 health systems for four consecutive years (Thomson Reuters 2012, its successor Truven Health Analytics 2013-2015).  Mission Health is a $1.6 billion integrated health system serving all of western North Carolina.

Before joining Mission Health System, Dr. Paulus was executive vice president, clinical operations and CIO at Geisinger Health System. Prior to joining Geisinger, Dr. Paulus was co-founder and later CEO of CareScience, Inc. now part of Premier healthcare informatics with the software in use in nearly 1,000 hospitals and health systems nationwide.

Dr. Paulus also serves on the boards for: Mercy Health System (St. Louis), University of North Carolina, Asheville, Carolina Day School and Chairs the board for the Mountain Area Health Education Cooperative (Asheville). He was voted one of Modern Healthcare’s Top 50 Most Influential Physician Executives and Leaders, and was among the Top 20 on that list.
