Pharmacist Spotlight: Utilizing CoverMyMeds’ Technology to Simplify Prior Authorization Requests

In honor of American Pharmacists Month, Account Coordinator Dante Lovell spoke with one of our network’s pharmacists about her experience using CoverMyMeds’ technology. Continue reading to learn how Christina VanSuch, PharmD, helps patients get the medications they need.

During my time on CoverMyMeds’ support team, I’ve come across many memorable users who share our same passion: Help patients get the medication they need to live healthy lives.

Recently, I had the privilege of speaking with Christina VanSuch, a traveling pharmacist who shared how working with CoverMyMeds has positively influenced her relationships with the patients she serves every day.

A graduate of Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Christina has been a pharmacist for two years. She works with numerous retail pharmacies, utilizing CoverMyMeds’ technology in all of them, and is grateful for the behind-the-scenes work CoverMyMeds supports for her pharmacies.

“It’s reassuring to know that there’s an entire company focused on the prior authorization process — that they’re following up to make sure PA requests aren’t forgotten and next steps are being taken,” Christina said. “As a pharmacist, the best call you can get is from CoverMyMeds saying, ‘Hey, you can run this (PA) through. It’s completed.’”

Serving as an accessible resource for her patients is of high value to Christina, so it’s critical that the technology she relies on is easy to access and use.

“CoverMyMeds’ website helps me navigate and follow up with rejections and check the status of a PA request at my own pace,” she continued. “And it helps me do all of this without taking time away from my work with patients at the pharmacy. I don’t necessarily have the time or resources to call the doctor’s office or insurance company to follow up on every single PA that’s pending.”

Consistent follow-up and a user-friendly web experience give Christina peace of mind and enables her to focus more of her time on providing valuable insight and guidance to patients.
