March of Dimes Hosts Annual Ohio Nurse of the Year Awards

On Dec. 9, 2016, March of Dimes hosted their 4th Annual Ohio Nurse of the Year Awards in downtown Columbus at the Hyatt Regency hotel.
CoverMyMeds had the pleasure of sponsoring the event, as well as attending the awards ceremony to honor the nursing community. Eighteen winners from across the state were recognized as outstanding nurses in areas ranging from pediatric care to public and behavioral health, and beyond.
CoverMyMeds was honored to present the award for Nurse of the Year in the ambulatory care category. Being part of a day that was focused on honoring nurses – a group that spends so much of their time helping others – was pretty amazing. After all, without the incredible care that nurses provide, our mission of helping patients get the medication they need to live healthy lives would not be possible.
Each event sponsor was paired up with a Nurse of the Year nominee to sit with during the ceremony. We had a great time getting to know our nurse (Kay Ball of Otterbein University) and hearing about all that she has accomplished in her career.
The afternoon also included a presentation by Bernadette Melnyk PhD, RN, CPNP/PMHNP, FNAP, FAAN, Dean of the College of Nursing, Associate Vice President for Health Promotion, and Chief Wellness Officer for The Ohio State University. She brought with her a powerful message, reminding the nurses in the audience that in order to properly care for their patients, they must first remember to care for themselves.
The event rounded out with a reminder of the March of Dimes mission: working to help more mothers have full-term pregnancies and healthy babies and researching ways to prevent the problems that threaten our children. It was an immense honor to support such a wonderful cause and we extend our congratulations to all of the winners.
