Matt Scantland

Co-Founder and CEO


Matt Scantland is Co-Founder and CEO of CoverMyMeds, the nation’s largest electronic prior authorization platform.
As CEO, Matt is responsible for overall company leadership and growth. He brings a product and technology perspective to the management team, and helps drive the company’s innovation strategy. Matt also is a member of the Company’s Board of Directors.

Matt and Co-Founder Sam Rajan started CoverMyMeds to help patients get the medications they need to live healthier lives. Through its innovative products and partnerships with the nation’s largest health plans, pharmacies, providers, and clinical systems, CoverMyMeds helps millions of patients access their needed medications each month.

Prior to co-founding CoverMyMeds, Matt was Co-Founder and President of a software development company in Columbus that served large healthcare companies. Matt is active in Columbus’ business, civic, and technology communities, and is an enthusiastic supporter of the growing entrepreneurial ecosystem in Columbus.



Sam Rajan

Co-Founder


Sam is a Co-Founder and Principal of CoverMyMeds responsible for clinical operations and pharmaceutical and manufacturer sales.

Prior to CoverMyMeds, Sam headed clinical operations at MemberHealth in charge of direction for clinical management for more than one million seniors, and managing the prescription drug spend of the company. While at MemberHealth Sam improved drug purchasing by $93 million in year two of operations, and implemented clinical programs that resulted in winning the 2008 URAC Gold Medal for Tier-1 PBMs.



Ted Frank

Chief Financial Officer


As Chief Financial Officer, Ted is responsible for financial strategy, financial operations and establishing operating processes for scale.

An experienced finance, sales, marketing and operations executive, Ted has built, funded, and scaled multiple software businesses in segments ranging from risk and expense management, to medical software. Prior to joining CoverMyMeds, he spent three years as a venture partner at one of the country’s leading venture development organizations, fourteen years in leadership positions at successful software companies and seven years in commercial banking.



Michelle Brown

Chief Operating Officer


Michelle joined CoverMyMeds in 2008 as VP of Operations responsible for pharmacy, health system, and pharmaceutical account management teams as well as user support and customer retention. She also holds a leadership role in partner integrations.

Michelle’s career has focused on high-growth companies primarily in healthcare and technology. Prior to CoverMyMeds, Michelle spent several years driving start-up growth with Into Great, and served as VP of Operations for ExpressMed, a high-growth HME provider, where she was responsible for customer service, billing, distribution, marketing and all acquisition integrations.



D. Alan Scantland

Senior Advisor & Board Chairman


Alan has an outstanding history in leading high-growth companies including MemberHealth, Express-Med and Battelle. Alan is a five-time Inc.500|5000 award recipient, including consecutive years with CoverMyMeds, and was awarded Inc.’s #1 overall company with MemberHealth in 2007. He volunteers significant time to mentoring start-up companies on strategy development, growth management and communications effectiveness.



Scott Rybak

SVP & General Manager, Payer


Scott is SVP and General Manager of CoverMyMeds’ payer business, in charge of network partnerships with pharmacy benefit management (PBM) companies.

Before joining CoverMyMeds, Scott spent 10 years at NaviNet as VP, Business Development developing new revenue streams. Scott established partnerships that extended NaviNet’s suite of administrative and clinical healthcare solutions. Prior to NaviNet, Scott held various leadership positions at Kinetra, EDS and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Maryland.



Ron Fine

VP, National Pharmacy Alliances


Ron is Vice President of National Pharmacy Alliances at CoverMyMeds, working with Health Plans, PBM’s, Pharmacy System Vendors and Pharmacy network.

After working as a retail pharmacist for more than 8 years, Ron joined Condor Corporation, a pharmacy management system vendor currently part of the McKesson Pharmacy Systems offering, where he served in many roles during his 15-year tenure. Ron then joined Immediate Pharmaceutical Services, a mail-order pharmacy and PBM, as President before joining CoverMyMeds.



Alan Gilbert

SVP, Talent


Alan is SVP of Talent at CoverMyMeds, responsible for the management and development of talent within the organization. Alan first joined CoverMyMeds in 2012 as Vice President of Engineering, responsible for all technical activities, product development and product management.

Alan has spent most of his career building and nurturing high-performing engineering teams that allow exceptional people to reach their potential and accomplish great things. Still an engineer at heart, he has been developing and commercializing medical devices and software for more than 25 years, holding positions at IBM, DuPont, Codonics, and CoverMyMeds. He has served on or led teams that brought dozens of medical products to market in more than 100 countries and holds several patents. Alan also volunteers at hack-a-thons, and has served on technology transfer committees at Case Western Reserve University and The Ohio State University.



Alan Pendergrass

VP, Clinical Analytics and Data Quality


Alan is the Vice President of Clinical Analytics and Data Quality at CoverMyMeds, responsible for ensuring obtainment of prior authorization forms for the company’s health care provider portal. Alan’s position focuses heavily on reporting, analytics, trending and forecasting.

Prior to CoverMyMeds, Alan served as Director of Analytics and Outcomes at MemberHealth/Universal American — a large Medicare Part D insurer.




Michael W Bukach, R.Ph.

SVP & General Manager, Pharmacy


Michael is the SVP and General Manager of CoverMyMeds’ pharmacy business, responsible for working with national pharmacy chains to implement electronic prior authorization in pharmacy locations.

Prior to CoverMyMeds, Michael served as VP of Pharmacy Operations for Cardinal Health/Medicine Shoppe, before joining MemberHealth in 2005. There he helped develop the 3rd largest Medicare Part D program in the country as SVP of Pharmacy Operations, responsible for the 65,000-pharmacy network and the prior authorization group.



Perry Lewis

VP, Industry Relations


Perry is Vice President of Industry Relations for CoverMyMeds, with a focus on pharmacy association engagement and leading advocacy efforts in both the state and federal arena pertaining to electronic prior authorization (ePA).

Perry has spent more than 30 years successfully managing relationships in the PBM and independent and chain pharmacy environment supporting community pharmacy initiatives, initiating strategy for network development and product management. He is actively involved in state and federal health care advocacy roles. He previously worked for McKesson AccessHealth as AVP PBM Relations contracting and supporting development of networks for independent chains.



Scott Gaines

SVP & General Manager, Provider Solutions


Scott is SVP and General Manager of CoverMyMeds’ provider business, responsible for leading the team’s strategy, growth and new partnerships within the health system and Electronic Health Record (EHR) market.

Scott has extensive business development, consulting and implementation experience in health IT, with a focus on integrated solutions for Epic, Allscripts, and Cerner. Prior to joining CMM, Scott spent 9 years with Hyland, where he most recently led the expansion of the company’s healthcare practice into international markets. In this role, Scott advised world-renowned healthcare organizations in Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific.
